“For Tibetan Buddhists, mandalas are thought to be the “architecture for enlightenment.” For the Hindus, they are “bridges into the metaphysical realm.” Navaho Indians use mandalas (medicine wheels or structured sand paintings) to bring a sick person back into harmony with himself and with the cosmos, and thereby to restore health. In Eastern civilizations, mandala pictures are used to consolidate the inner being or to enable one to plunge into a deep meditation. In the metaphysical community, mandalas are energy-retention devices that make entry into the intuitive realms more accessible.” Jan West.
